In Feb 2024 I attended Julie Stevens' workshop and one of the poems we were presented with, was My People by Kim Moore.            My interpretation was about people from the 'world' of football.

My people are from the community of football both local and national

My people include varied characters from over 50 years in the game

My people include comrades of shared successes and disappointments

My people talk of times from decades ago as if they happened last week

All reflected in rose tinted glasses and a barbed changing room humour

My people are linked forever by moments of significance

My people also include those I know of, rather than who I know

The Gods and Villains of the professional game.

They don’t know me, but they are my people

My people live in a tribal world of fierce loyalty, regardless of sense or fact

My people are from the glorious game
