Jack 103

This poem was a result of one of Julie Stevens' workshops -  we were presented with a poem called - Up by Shauna Darling Robertson the opening line mentions dancing and I then interpreted the essence as being about what makes you and your spirit rise up. My effort focusses around dancing to a tune of simple wishes.

I don’t dance, I can’t dance

I suppose I could with a sense of awkwardness

But why be awkward for the sense of it

My dance would be imaginary to a tune

Of my family living with a real sense of freedom

Very simple things

Grandchildren smiling, laughing innocent

Learning to enjoy the freedom of childhood

All the way through their dance of life
