I wrote this after a conversation with one of my cousins, who I hadn’t seen for quite a while, who said that since her mum passed, she was experiencing a different perspective of conversation with one of her brothers, who experiences certain challenges.
Their conversations seemed different in as much as it was clear that as much as she cared and however she wished circumstances to be different she and her brother knew that things wouldn't change and seemingly in the acceptance of this, their conversations had a degree of normality about them, as opposed to advising and wishing change. I wrote it from the perspective that deep down he knows and appreciates that she cares.
Regardless of outcome, I have freedom of choice
It helps that others respect I listen to my own voice
Openly choosing the consequences it brings
Also accepting the inevitability of things
I know their worry is because they care
and the honesty of reality helps clear the air
