Too many years, forcing people to walk on eggshells

Differing personalities surface, fuelled by alcohol

The alcohol was an addiction but controversially, not the problem

Alcohol was a solution, numbing and destructive, but a solution

Masking complexities, rooted in not liking or understanding myself

Leading to others not understanding, the contradicting versions of me

A dangerous cocktail of suppression

A continual hangover of anger and denial

Often non-existent self-control, both near and far

Destruction of property and emotions

Raised voices against caring innocent loved ones

Sometimes, even raised fists with engaging strangers

Thousands of apologies, never made

Still unravelling those personal complexities

But nearing the strength, to make those apologies
